 We are excited to
have you share in the celebration of our future together. Although we can hardly imagine our
wedding day without each and every one of you there with us, we certainly understand that prior
commitments, logistics and the burden of traveling so far may keep some of you from attending.

Jan 28, 2006 - Troy and Denean meet for the first time for a friendly hike—a date
is out of the question because Troy's severe allergy to cats does not mix well with Denean's beloved
housemates. During the hike Troy and Denean learn that they lived a block apart while at UVa and that
Troy's childhood next-door neighbor was in Denean's graduating high school class. After the hike, they
decide to go to a local watering hole for some nachos and a bit of "the usual." On the way to the pub,
Denean is mortified when she discovers that she has left her money at home. Troy buys the "convincing"
act and is happy to pay (this time). The conversation comes easily, and while trying to come up with a
colloquialism for freeloader, the closest either gets is "smooch." Hmmmm...maybe they were already
subconsciously thinking about something else!
Feb 8, 2006 - Denean and Troy go to a UVa happy hour and discover that they have
similar backgrounds. After the hour of happiness, they head to a nearby restaurant for dinner. Over
the meal, both realize something might be a-brewin', in spite of Denean's two trusty old cats. Denean
is also relieved to find out that Troy has hair—she was sure that he had a giant bald spot hidden
underneath the baseball cap he had worn hiking.
Feb 12, 2006 - Denean comes over to Troy's place to watch the Winter Olympics. Troy,
not the smoothest operator, thinks all evening about how to get that first kiss. He walks Denean to
her car at the end of the evening and they kiss as they say goodbye. According to Denean, Troy gives
her a peck and promptly runs off. Troy's version has something to do with a polite kiss
goodnight and a cool, collected walk back to his condo.
Feb 14, 2006 - Troy and Denean go out on Valentine's Day for their first "real" date.
Since the outing was arranged only the night before, dining options are few. Denean, however, suggests
her favorite hole-in-the-wall Mexican restaurant, and they have no problem getting a table. Unlike the
"kiss and run" event a few nights earlier, Troy kisses Denean and gives her a single red rose when she arrives
for the evening. There was more kissing and less running to follow.
Summer 2006 - Denean and Troy hike their first "fourteener"—that's a mountain over
14,000 feet high—together in early June. They go on to hike six more during the summer, reaching
the summit on all but one. (They were turned back on that one by howling winds and, also for Denean, the
technical climbing.) Two of these summits were conquered back-to-back over one weekend, and
included over 23 miles of hiking and more than 9,000 feet of elevation gain!
Nov 23, 2006 - Troy talks Denean into taking a Thanksgiving Day hike before joining
friends for dinner. Unbeknownst to Denean, Troy is preoccupied with finding a spot to propose. After
reaching the crowded peak—hiking was a popular pre-dinner activity that day—Troy thinks the
proposal is never going to happen. Finally, he spots an isolated rock off the trail and, pretending he
wants to take a break in the sun, drops to one knee and does the deed. Troy wants Denean to pick out
her ring, so he uses a fancy Targét engagement ring to complete the moment. Troy then pleads with
Denean to hide the fake ring forever.
Mar 30, 2007 - Troy and Denean will close on their first home together, an unassuming
ranch on a beautiful lot in a great Boulder neighborhood. After the closing, Troy will promptly begin
construction on "Troy's Cat House," a first-class feline retirement residence.
Jun 29, 2007 - Denean and Troy will quit living in sin and get hitched in a lovely evening ceremony on the
shore of Lake Tahoe with their family and close friends in attendance.
